Season Layering

The transitional months from autumn to winter are all about clever layering. Rachel Spillane shares some style picks to update your wardrobe.

As we make the swap from linen to wool, you’ll find the key for chic and sophisticated style in autumn is layering. Not only does it look great, but layering is also extremely practical.

It’ll keep you warm and cosy on blustery, crisp days, and you won’t feel like the Michelin Man and overheat as soon as you step foot outside. Layering throughout the autumn months, while we’re subject to precarious weather, means you can also stretch a few of your summer pieces further.

For example, style your favourite midi dress with warm boots and add a thick wool jumper. Or, wear a light tea blouse with a cosy mohair cardi. Embrace the versatility that layering brings and use the new season to experiment with different outfit combinations. Think about how you can repurpose a ‘summer’ look to suit autumn temperatures and I’m sure you’ll give your wardrobe a whole new lease of life.

Go on, take a look at these layering staples for the new season.
